Background
Bio | Hi! My name’s Alexa. I’m a rising sophomore at Harvard University, where I’m studying economics and government. I hope to pursue a career in law and policy following my undergraduate studies to fight for economic equity for marginalized groups of people. While at Harvard, I participate in policy groups, the marching band, and the Quidditch team. In my free time, I also love reading, writing, drawing, and making YouTube videos. I grew up in a rural town with a population less than 100. My high school was even smaller. So, due to lack of funding and student population, my school did not offer many extra curricular activities, AP (or any advanced) courses, or standardized test prep. All of these things were necessary — I thought — for a successful college application. As a low income student, my family could not afford tutors or mentors of any kind and likely could not afford to send me to college at all if I did not receive substantial financial aid. The college application process taught me a lot about myself and the world around me. It was difficult navigating it, especially when I felt like my accomplishments and qualifications were perhaps less than other applicants’, but it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I look forward to helping students who need guidance. |
